Newbie Marlin fishing.

Ahoy,

i am about to close on a boat in North Carolina. i plan on driving it up to new york and do some fishing along the way. I no the canyons off NC are very close so i want to hook up on some Marlins.

Can you give me some pointers or advice on reeling them and any other thing i should know...

Thanks Kevin

Congrats on yer new ride!!....Ok lets assume ya allready got the shake down cruise done and everything is ready to go.....I say this cuz 50 - 75 miles from land is not a fun place ta find somthing wrong,,,yer new to the boat so there is a learning curve,,,anyway

I have been on several 30 day floats. The work boats out here cruise at 10 knots. If yer moving a boat and have that much time it's not a bad deal, 240 miles a day, trolling the whole time.

Simply put two marlin lures back in the day and change them to,, big tuna lures at night. The color of the tuna lues doesn't matter, they can see um against the night sky better than they can in the day time since they don't have sun glasses and cannot squint.

Plot yer course to cover some good bottom. Have enough crew onboard so there is allways two people awake, captain and 1 look out- gopher..

Congrats again, What kine boat you getting???
