New Video Cam Mount

I should be getting my house ready to put on the market, but I just can't get motivated, so I took the afternoon to put this together.

I had an old broken tripod, so I used just the top mount and the section of pole that it attaches to (about 14" or so)

I epoxyed a gimbal on the end of the pole section.

Then I did a few tape wraps to build the pole up, just like you would do for a reel seat, epoxyed them and slipped over about a 13" section of 1" PVC. I finished off the PVC with some shrink wrap just to make it pretty and help it stay put in a rod holder.

I'm very happy with the way it came out. I should be packing, but just can't bring myself to do it.

Excellent Idea. Slap that puppy up in a hardtop holder and you got a greatview point. Just dont forget to grab when you run to another spot.

I would think it would need to fit tightlly in the rod holder in order to handle vibration.

I did the same....Never had any problems with vibration. As long as you have the rubber inserts in the rodholder.

I forget to turn it on a lot....haha

Looks Great Jim. I've made a few like it out of foam with Graphite sleeve. If it wobbles at all, you can wrap the the area where it contacts the top of the rod holder with cord - just like a gaff - it won't move and will be rock solid.

Looks good Jim, I'm still waiting to test out my pole so I can dunk my camera for better underwater footage.

That sounds expensive I made this one out of broken $20 tripod, a $2 gimbal and some left over PVC, Shrink wrap and epoxy.
