    New Tool for Splicing Spectra

Just got this in from Basil at BHP Tackle. Its Primary use is to serve the mono and spectra together. It can be C clamped to anything. The machining is the nicest I have seen in a long time. I know there are a bunch of you that splice your own spectra. This tool is a must have! I have already made a couple dozen topshots on it and it has worked flawless

I've been using this gadget to tie large flies for years. Works for serving topshots too. You can see where the hook would fit into the clamp on the left. That round assembly is weighted a spins super smooth. Basil's looks very similar w/out the expense of the clamp and "spinner" assembly. Very nice Basil. I made the switch to spectra/topshots thanks to Basil and never looked back. Thanks, man.

If your going to tie/serve top shots, spend the 10-15 bucks for a bobbin. You can find one in any fly shop. I found some kevlar thread in the flybox that works dynamite for serving the ends.

They're on the website for $129.00 The spectra-to-mono connection is held super-tight with no slip or abrasion, providing ample vertical and horizontal working space with any serving tool. Works equally well for making half-hitched servings. Machined from polished stainless steel with an aluminum base that has recessed thru-holes for bench mounting.

    Thanks for the props Bill...
