Well said Tuna Tamer. I once heard that "marlin fishing is not for the faint of heart or the faint of wallet." It's hard to catch them with clarkspoons and planers too. I had a crowd book a 1/2 day last week and then asked me how many marlins I thought we would catch that day. Not really sure how to respond to that one...

That's an easy question to answer here. If we knew the spanish bite was on, we'd answer "A TON OF THEM". You see in these parts spanish are called Carolina Beach Spotted Marlin, due to the way they put on a show when hauled in by a downrigger or over-classed rod at 5 knots.

Unreal that it was taken during a tourney. Talk about getting new people involved in the sport. You put up a fish like that on a stage like that, and I gaurantee there were no Marlin Magics within a fifty mile radius of P.C. LOL.

If you are talking about lures, this fish was caught on a plug, not a Marlin Magic, but a lure none the less. The way the fishing had been that week, I bet alot of boats were plugging on the last day. A blue marlin half that size would've won Pirates Cove this year.
