    New Fin Nor reels?

Does anybody have any experience with the new Fin Nor star drag conventional reels? I was set on the Avet LX's but just noticed the brand new Fin Nors for a hell of a deal. I LOVE the old Fin Nor stuff but I have heard rumors that the new stuff, since they have been bought, is not of equal build quality.

    Any insight?

Here is a link to the reel I am talking about.

Thanks in advance for your feedback

I agree with you on the Avets. I already have a few of them and they are awesome reels. I was just curious .... before I finish off the set of Avets if anyone knew anything about the FN's. They have an excellent history and the best spinning reel for the money so I was just curious.

    Thanks for your input.

I will try adding a weight to my fishing kite to make it go to where I need it to (from the beach to the sea). It should work so I will need a high capacity spinning reel to use with mono line... I think I'm going to buy the OFS95

    Jer,

The OFS95 is a BEAST! Easily the biggest spinning reel I have ever seen in my life. For me, the 20 series AHAB is more than enough of a spinning reel but if I needed anything larger, the OFS series would be the choice.

I have about 550 yards of line on my kite reel so I want to be able to fish up to 500 yards from the beach (or jetty)

I saw a bunch of reviews on them on www.360tuna.com on the reel thread. Sound like they had trouble with a few, but it was fixed and people seem to like them a lot, check out the thread

I saw smoe reviews on the offshore spinners but none on the new conventionals they are offering.

    Jer,

I didnt like what i read on the OFS series so you might want to have a peak at those reviews prior to your purchse. It sounds like the new company may be skimping on materials a bit. Its a shame because Fin Nor used to be a company that you could depend on "overbuilt" quality.
