    New Canyon Runner/Ritchie Howell?

Saw an ad in one of the fishing magazines that the 60' Ritchie Howell that Canyon runner built is for sale and they are building a new one, 62' I think?

So CR guys what's the story? Fill us in on the new boat.

From what i understand.. Is adam larosa and the Canyon Runner company have teamed up with ritchie howell to sell their boats... From what i gather...

I see they have their name stamped on a bunch of sales of ritchie howell... Kinda like i would think like bad company and the viking..

The CR boys know what they need and want on a bad ass boat.. and the howells are great.. i think it is a good relationship!

Got an e-mail from CR, looks like there running that new 60' RH out of Florida for the winter, Palm Beach or Palm Springs, something like that. Running multi day trips, for a good rate as a live aboard on the 60' RH.

We do , in fact, have the 60 for sale right now. If she sells, we would immediately begin construction of a new Ritchie Howell in the 61-62ft range. Our primary reason for building a new boat is we wanted to re arrange our interior layout to better accomodate our needs with respect to charter fishing. We would move our master foward, creating more bunk space further aft so our customers have additional sleep areas. With the latest C18 putting out an additional 150hp per motor than our current version, we felt we could go another foot or two larger and not sacrifice the speed and economy we currently enjoy. All in all, theres not alot we would change other than the stateroom layout and probably add shaft tubes. I look foward to being involved in another build ...

By covering the shafts with a tube, you cut down on the rotational friction created by the shaft spinning in the water. Speed and fuel economy increase because of this .. most boats with that type of power see a 1kt increase in cruise and 4-7gph savings in fuel from what I'm told

There is still debate among many builders on whether tubes actually add any speed. It is not proven yet that they do as most boats that have them were built with them new.

Has anybody here ever known of a boat that had them added post build and didnt change anything else to see if there actually was a real difference??

I was told that Phat Mann put them on in 2008 and saw a 1kt increase and 5 Gph off cruise. I could be mistaken this was second hand info.
