New Bluefin Lures - Downeaster

Over the years I used the 3 oz bullet head to Bluefin fish, like most of the rest of the fleet. One thing I noticed was that occasionally I could not seem to get one of them tuned quite right and the bally wanted to lay on its side, instead of swimming upright.

Out of frustration and experience I developed the following lure, when I realized I could put a jig quality finish on a bullet head.

While improving the finish, I made a patented design change to build an offset keel into the lead head to force it to always run upright and tune itself.

This is the first stab at building a better mousetrap. Available in very limited quantities, as they were only built on a prototype scale.

I feel they will get better with time if I can make some additional adjustments in design, color, assembly and packaging. But for prototypes, I'm am overall very pleased.

Can you order just the heads?

I don't have just the heads available, but if people really like these, then I will do just the heads next year. I was trying to get a finished product, but just the heads will be much easier.
