New to America (from OZ) - Target Species?

Hi there fellas,

I'm going to be in America for a few months, I love my fishing here in Australia. I would love to get into some Saltwater fishing while I am in America.
What are some of the more popular species to target in the Salt? Also what lures do you use to target them?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I am a catch and release only fishermen if that makes any difference

where are you going to be staying?

the first fish I caught there was a butterfish, and that afternoon I had found milkfish they were like bonefish on steroids and a great fight.. and great bait!

Jim what area of the states?
Inshore, offshore, saltwater, freshwater. We have a huge variety no matter where you go. Also a lot depends on what time of year.
