Do a seach, type in squid bottom, and a old tread will come up on this subject.
Let me put it this way, it does not hurt, they are on the "Predator" boat I run and billfish got to the side with the most squid. First year we had them on the starboard side and thats the teaser isde they showed, then we put the majority on the Poart and now that the side they showed...![]()
thanks all and if anyone has a smaller stencil than on the www.stencilease.com website...would you mind if I borrowed it?I think those squid stencils are a bit large for my small boat.
Use a piece of cardboard, a cereal box works good, draw a squid, cut it out. Using the piece with the hole in it, but it against the bottom of the boat and paint the squid on. Use whatever color you think will show up best against your bottom paint, make sure to use bottom paint for your squids.
My advice, worth less than two cents, is DON"T PAINT THEM BACKWARDS.![]()

I want to paint a school of tuna on the stern and some squid on the bow. Think that will work? First thing I have to do is buy a boat.![]()

If you keep hearing the thuds from Tuna's swimming into the bottom of your boat...you know they are working...
We had them on the bottom of the Stingray and I think they helped. Make sure you use white bottom paint and not just regular paint. John on the "Shelly II" and Joe on the "Mojo" both told me they had fish hit the bottom of the boat after they painted squid on the bottom. IMO it cant hurt!
