Nation-wide event to support Gulf seafood
Nation-wide event to support Gulf seafood
UNITED STATES
Monday, November 22, 2010, 05:00 (GMT + 9)
On 1 December, more than 150 chefs and restaurants in cities across the country will participate in the first "America's Night Out For Gulf Seafood" to promote the safety of Gulf seafood in light of the BP oil spill earlier in the year.
All of the participating restaurants will be serving a special dish that includes either fish, oysters, shrimp or crabs from the Gulf of Mexico, which supplies nearly half of all the country's seafood.
The special event intends to show that seafood from the Gulf of Mexico is safe to eat and is the most scrutinized and tested seafood in the entire world.

It is also meant to honor the thousands of Americans and their families in the Gulf seafood industry who are now back to work, fishing the Gulf waters for the most succulent catches.
The event is being managed by the New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau, which is the driving catalyst for New Orleans' largest industry, strategically leading national and international marketing, public relations and visitor services efforts that attract millions of visitors, events, conventions and festivals.
