My World - updated May 22nd, 2008

Well, after my third trip to Panama in 5 months we are finally getting somewhere with our project. The road and power starts in a couple of weeks and building should begin in November/December (fingers crossed). If that all goes roughly as planned I will be looking more like a Panamanian each day as I will likely be living there nearly full-time starting the first of the year.

Anyway, Mr.Plummer (UK,Florida guy) and his buddy from France Colin fished a couple of days before we arrived with our buddy Chad and ended up C/R a 700lb est. Black Marlin

Bastards actually had a 250lb class YFT they lost at the boat as well, not too mention the usual 40-60lb YFT, Wahoo, Cubera snapper, Roosterfish, etc. etc.

Well I only got to fish one day as duty called and it rained almost the whole time....still good fun catching and releasing rainbow runners, skipjack, and wahoo....Lost a nice fish when the #9 wire broke as though it was 10lb? Anybody ever run across some of this wire being defect upon purchase?? One time was somewhat understandable, but we lost two fish that ripped line of the 50W rather promptly and shortly after tightening up and starting battle, the wire broke mid-strand?? Oh well a good time none the less

Here are a couple pictures of the Marlin, my buddy Chads place, our new land, and general surroundings.....

The ariel shot of the buildings is our buddy Chads place...KILLER set up

The last shot is of our property...Hopefully KILLER soon

Till next time boyz....Keep em' tight

By the way I should mention that I have the greatest wife of all time who continues to allow me to do ridiculous stuff all over the world and support me right through it all!!!! Thanks Baby...

Squirtis, when you edit the pictures make the width 750 pixels

The black marlin shots are great, your land and the river looks killer and your bud's place looks awesome... and the beach, oh my God!

Tell us more about the place. When did you decide to buy land, what are you building, etc etc.

Thanks Shoefish...

Well first off my wife rules, second off I am ADHD man and cannot sit at a desk or do anything over and over again

I have been traveling down to Central America for about 12 years now and just love it, so this past january on another trip down to Panama with my wife on our honeymoon I just had a weird feeling that it was time and this was the place?? It didn't hurt when my wife told me that it was so beautiful we should move here Little did she know
That same week I connected with my partner who was learning how to surf down there and we just hit it off and he was pumped when we went out on the panga with no bait or anything and I tried different stuff all the time and always caught something day after day...(of course this is easy in Panama). A couple of e-mails and lots of beer and trips back and forth to Panama since then and its a real deal!!!

Basically what we got is about 36 acres of ocean view land that is about 2 miles from the water. Our goal is to build a small 6-8 villa resort over the next 5 years offering fishing, surfing, diving, etc. etc. Our hope is to be a family style resort so that guys can bring there wife down and still get into world class fishing. Something for everyone so to speak.

The road up the hill and power to the property should start in the next week or two and take about 90 days to complete since it is rainy season. If that goes roughly as planned we will be starting construction on our place in December and I will be down there almost full time by the first of the year. Next comes the first boat which we hope to have down there in January or February.

It's amazing how much research is required for something like this, but it is a really great feeling building something from scratch like it's your baby ya know..

I will update this as we go along if there is interest, kind of like the boat builders do??

I would love to any any questions anybody might have and would appreciate some of the help when it comes to alot of stuff that I don't have the answers to with fishing,boats,docks,etc..

p.s. TO ADMIN... Is this cool to do at least at this stage, I am not trying to spam anyone, but we are going to have a small charter setup down there in about 6 months so?? Please let me know if I am o.k. here....
