Decided at last minute to make a inshore troll today. NOAA screwed the forecast again this morning (5 to 10 knots west, more like 15 to 20 knots) Started around the oil wreck as we had great marks and life not a touch. moved east until we came up on whales, porpoise and bait readings. We worked it hard for an hour picking one fish, released him as he was small. Got a call from Gene Quigley of Shore Catch Charters and made a move, apon arrival we didn't even have a whole spread set and we got 2 fish on, Keeping one that was a decent 35 pound fish and releasing another. For the next 3 hours we released a bunch more fish looking for a 47" over. Fish were on top for most of the day. I havent seen inshore fishing like this since the early 90s. The fish were so full of baitfish that they were spitting them up all over the deck, They were eating either anchovy or sardines they werent sandeels. Most of the fish came on Canyon Runner purple mini mamba bars and blue and silver Mamba bars. had some bites on ballhoo's with blue and white ilander flashers.
The fish are there and feeding alot of reports of guys I had talked to that had decent fishing all day. Hopefully the bait holds and fish stay so we can have a consistent fall fishery that were havent seen in a long time
