It seems to me that I read somewhere on here that the position of your outboard(s) changes the pattern of your wake/bubbles in the water, etc. Has anyone experimented with this? The couple of times I have seen Admin. offshore it always appeared he had one motor tilted a little higher than the other ones. Come on guys fill me in!
Just like O-SEA-D, by tilting our motors down all the way when trolling we have less white wash behind the boat. Cant say for sure if it changes the pattern of the wake... If it did I dont think I would be able to tell anyhow.
I am always tring new things with my boat looking to get some bites so you may have seen a motor up some.
Having 3 motors im always working with them looking for the best wake. I have now shut down 2 motors and just troll with the center motor all the way down.
Thanks for the info guys. This was something that just crossed my mind while SITTING on the Capitol Beltway this morning on my way to DC. You know after all the tourist robberies, shootings, muggings, etc. this past week they really should reanme this town DUC.
John,
Glad to see you found your way outta the Big Apple o.k.

I run mine down all the way but hit the tilt for a second to get it off the level Bar or pin. I think it cuts down on vibration and noise by having it on the hydraulic pistons.
HI:
If u tilt them up, U GET LOTS MORE WHITE WATER right behind the transom. This is for Pelagic , BUT, not good for the Marlin.
For Marlin you need a faster speed and more holes in the pattern.
WARNING...WARNING...WARNING... If u tilt the motors UP, WATCH the temp guage. U will run a bit hotter.
WARNING...WARNING...WARNING... Your boat will run at a different angle. That means that your gas guage will show MORE than u have in the tank.
If u take care when u TILT the engines, YOU WILL CATCH MORE TUNA, Mahis and such.
These fish(read above) like and want more white water. U will attract them and HOLD them in your wake for longer periods.
HINT...HINT...HINT... Put out some lures just AFT of your CHINE WAKE. Most Yellowfin come to your spread thru the CHINE WAKE. Lures positioned there usually get hit first. I like 6 inch feathers, small jets and the TUNA TURBO BIRD wil three(3) T'ZERs between the TUNA TURBO BIRD AND the 8-11 inch "GM" type lure. This is another place to run this rig, besides the wwwb placement.
HINT...HINT...HINT... A 6-9 inch jet works G R E A T when the seas get up a bit . Also put that jet just to the OUTSIDE of your propwash. The tuns see it better in that position.

THIS IS AND HAS POTENTIAL OF BEING A GREAT THREAD HERE....WE JUST NEED SOME REEL INSIGHT FROM MANY!
MOTORS UP OR DOWN ALSO COMES INTO PLAY WHILE ANCHORED.......I WATCH THE BEAST ADJUST STEERING ALL THE TIME WHILE ANCHORED...NATURALLY MOTORS ARE DOWN...
I believe I read a Barta article a year or so ago and his comment was to tilt them up. Gets rid of the exhaust quicker, less white water. Don't know whether I agree, I've done both and had good/bad days either way.
