#1...learn to catch bait! You can't catch it without finding it...and finding bait is critical.

Networking is a productive way to find fish....just don't do it all day on the radio. Turn your radio to Channel 16 or shut it off. You should already have a general plan.
Quit worrying about what every other boat is doing.
Learn to find fish and structure without following other boats or pulling up on other boats.
Learn different techniques....BUT FOR CHRIST SAKE DON'T try every one of them every day you go. Same goes for artificials....you don't have to drag every lure in the tackle box and switch colors every five minutes if it ain't happening...You need to find the fish.
And my favorite "Weekend Warrior" tip.......don't leave the inlet if you can't do it without following other boats....

Just rembember "good enough" ....isn't! Prep, having a back up to the back up you can not drink the night before bu if you have a deck full of people that have your setting up for failure. Settling for things isn't the way to go, on a weekend it is a contest between you and the 70 others so if your not looking and running your best someone else's gear will be.

You said it....from one master baiter to another.....follow the food chain, if you want to get on a good bite....making bait is the first step to a productive outing.....once you get good at finding the bait, the fish that eat them are usually not to far away.
