Morehead 7-10-05
As the sun came up Sunday morning, we found ourselves coming out the east side of the slot. We couldn't help but think that was just like bluefin season.
The big red ball was coming up on the horizon and we were pointed right at it and running 31 knots. We had some following swell and it made for a lovely ride. We stopped in around the 825 on the first break. The first line out gets hit and it was like that right off the bat. A dozen quick bailers and a nice king. Wanting a better class of fish we pushed up and out. We found some live bottom at the 860 and put out again. Put out this time with larger baits, hoping for some gaffers. One pass on it and we were hooked up with a white marlin on the old pink/pink islander. After a 10 minute fight and release, we pulled up again and ran further offshore to the next break. We fished it up to the 900 and only managed a couple more bailers. Knowing I had broken the cardinal rule "Never leave fish." We ran back in to where we stared and mohawked the bailers, with what time we had left. Tally for the day 35 dolphin, 5 kings and a white. f/v Sea Draggin Last edited by Sea Draggin; 07-11-2005 at 12:21 PM. |

We had sailfish and dolphin swimming circles around the boat and only managed a few dolphin. We were out that way, but only targeting Ms. Blue. She was not at home.
![]() It was unbelievably slick out there. Redemption was had today: Limit of dolphin, king macks, sailfish and whitey in the spread.

Good deal
Glad you got em. Good chatting out there. If I'm in them, I 'll do my best to let you know, especially up that area. Its lonely up there, which aint so bad. I only saw one boat all day long.
I think we are going to stay away for a few weeks during the upcomming tourneys, then come back for another look. Catch em, Jim |
