    more shark tagging...

well we had another great tagging / dna / 'pinger'- transmitter trip..
when my girl asked me to take her and her friends back out shark fishing I just grinned ... yep it is back on! .. with the 'lab rats'..! we rolled on up to Jupiter from ft lauderdale with the C-Brat our 25 mako. the weather has been real cold this year and it got nice! we got 11 sharks total .. 3 tiger sharks, 1 lemon ... ...the dive boats seen like 40 at a time sometimes..on 1 dive! just wouldn't bite...(*one of our main targeted! ... that's just the way it goes..), 4 bulls, 2 nurse, 1 hammer head.. fun trip. all fish were caught with circle hooks and hooks were cut out with bolt cutters or my oversize arc type de-hooker also. lost a set of bolt cutters also... 'ain't as easy as it looks...' no harm to any shark.. even kept the boat so water can flow... they installed a 'pinger' in the bulls and lemon so we had scalpels, sutures, tags and stuff being done like a field hospital... cool creatures to watch! my girl loves to wire, hold, tail rope them also *she even wires good while being pulled down the rail..! and all she needed was a small clip of a fin for her dna stuff! we also measured all the sharks ... rolling a huge tiger shark over is so cool especially with bare hands! ...had a great time.. hope you like the pics...
one of the sharks we did last year was pinged just the other month in the tortugas and is now in s, carolina...

Cool shots! Looks like you roped up some big sharks. Must be fun doing the tagging - thanks for sharing.

If you pinch the barbs down on the circles they pop right out with the dehooker( a loong one). I had the same problem with losing bolt cutters too and we were just trying to cut the wire close on tigers. I use 16/0 mustads what were you guys using? thanks for sharing the pictures.

we use the large mustads ..

same ones pina bay uses on black marlin by the way... had a great time. I guess this should be listed under wierd science...lol anyway yes great trip with good people all hooks were cut out and we do carry 3 sets of bolt cutters because we do tend to loose a pair once in a while when there is teeth involved oh by the way my girl wired the big tiger.. think she is still floating in the clouds ... the lemon sharks are cool we wrap up a paddle with old rags and duct tape and stick it in their mouth like a pacifier... pretty funny but it works.
