    monster sword

Figured Id share these pics even though they are not the best. A good friend of mine is a commercial swordfisherman in Florida. He goes out handlining for the at night, mostly by himself. www.fishingpalmbeach.com, Anyway, he recently had a night where he caught several keepers including this one which, was over 500lbs.

Hey! I fished on that boat! Capt. Peel sure knows his swords!
Overnighting solo for swords, on that boat, is remarkable.

Does he hand line or bouy fish? most comms in Fl. bouy fish. basically modified long line with out the long line betwee hooks. I'd be interested to hear more about how you hand line for swords. Must be incredible.

Its really kind of both. You bouy fish, but you have to bring the fish in by hand. The rub rail on the side of his boat is completley ate up from the mono runing up and down it. If you ever want to go on a pretty cool trip, and just experiece it, he would probably take you out since he also charters rod, and reel. However, I actually have more fun helping set up all the commercial gear and catch by hand. Hes one awesome fisherman! Most nights, you will have several swords caught, sometime a fish will grab the gear and take the high flyer, poly ball, and the whole rig down, never to be seen again.
