Tell them to shut up, you hear about all these people getting shot but does one of them say anything about that and make a video about that. NOOOOOO

They are trying to take away everything we have, fishing, hunting, trapping whats next.

Do you know a carrot or vegetable are alive and can feel? So what about them when you so cruely cut them from the earth and let them die. How about this lets stop eating because there is nothing else to eat if we don't kill something.

WOW i need to beat sometihng up now how about a cat

She kept talking about how the mouth was opening and closing. What about her big bunny hugging bazoo that ran solid for two minutes? Wimmin
Oh the people were laughing at its misery? How about the misery that incessant whine of yours inflicted on my ears for those 120 seconds? Huh lady? She needs to stop yappin, get back in the kitchen and boil some broccoli like all good women.

humans are at the top of the food chain and by killing that shark we are putting darwinism into action by taking the stupid sharks that cant tell there are a bunch of humans on board bout to kill him and eliminating them the sharks that are smart enough to stay away shall breed and make a super shark

I hope that was not meant towards me?

I am the last person who would agree to thier statements.

Its still breathing, would someone please shoot it. We had a mako that day and we did not stick it it was a qualifing shark but would not beat a 246 that was hung the day prior, no sense in it.

Hahaha, I have seen those videos before, pretty funny stuff. I have lived on the Vineyard my whole life and find the shark tournament a great venue for the island. The tournament itself has something like a 95% release rate, and it draws huge crowds and sponsors, things us islanders need to survive!! Other than Clinton showing up here, this tournament is the biggest boost to our economy we have. So this tournament is good and we need it, not to mention its fun as hell!

As for PETA, maybe we should have protested the plane you yahoos flew around our island for 2 days contributing to NOISE and AIR pollution, helping contribute to global warming, but you must drive a hybrid so its ok, maybe they should hang out with Al Gore more. As for your protest it was quiet the feeble attempt to persuade anyone away, how bout this, get a job, make some money and become a real human being and enjoy life for what it is! What r people gonna protest next......I know the SUN, b/c it causes cancer and kills people!! better yet how about oxygen!!

ok im sorry im done with my rant
Were gonna need a bigger boat!

    Sorry Mary,

I was certainly not directing my comment at you. I was directing it at the PETA freaks who aren't vegan vegiterians. I've always asked people who give me a hard time about fishing this question, "Do you eat at MacDonald's and do you think they talk those cows into committing suicide or do they give them a "humane" lethal injection?"

The day this was filmed I overheard a PETA respesentative asking a boat on the dock in OB if his Mako was a Longfin or a Shortfin Mako. It was an obvious trap, trying to frame an inexperienced fisherman, since we all know that Longfin Makos are protected.

I jumped in and said, "That is a shortfin Mako and if you really gave a damm about sharks you would know the difference!!!"

...as I said, PETA is rife with hypocrites.

You on the other hand are not a hypocrite. Sorry if my post mistakenly implied that.

Let's Land on the Peta Web site

It's real easy to go off on these ignorant, vocal minority, elitist, need to get a real job, tofu eaters on this web site and everyone will agree with you.

I hate to say it, but PETA goes out and catches us fishermen at our worst moments (usually hanging fish) and make us look like blood thursty thugs who relish the killing of fish as bloodsport. We don't look good in this light, but it's also not even close to an accurate representation...The people behaving goofy and shouting are the people surrounding the the weigh in, not the fishermen.

I see no footage of sharks being released or tagged and I know most fishermen feel the same mixed emotion I do about killing and hanging a fish, in 99% of the cases I really prefer to release fish, especially Sharks.

Fact is we release 95% (plus) of our fish, usually with tags that provide vital statistical data.

Unless we go land on their web site and make our points, these ignorant, self righteous CAMERA THUGS will cause problems for all fishermen...I think we should go to www.peta.org and post detailed information about fisheries and make them respond to the real issues or get lost. They don't have a clue about fisheries management, won't respond, then we can promote they don't live up to their own lofty moral standard...Case closed, these Hollywooders hate bad reviews...

If they are not willing to come to the Hawaiian Islands and stop single longliners 300 miles out that kill hundreds of 500 lb. Thresher Sharks in a couple of sets and discard them, or the by catch & finning operations all over the world that kill hundreds of thousands of sharks period then they're just another Hollywood puppet show. They need to address the real issue of commercial entities depleting the oceans biomass, right now sportfishermen are the only group who care about the REAL problem.

Hey I agree with not throwing live animals (on the court or ice) at sporting events, drugged up animal mascots and not having Polar Bears in 12 x 12 cages at shoping malls in Florida. This is what PETA is good at and they should stick to their area of expertise.

End of Rant from HI...Going Thresher fishing tonight hopefully...Weather permiting.
