    Monster Shark Roll Call !!

Who is here in Martha's Vineyard for the Monster Shark? It has been very quiet!!

Had a great ride up here on Tuesday on our 31' OM - American Mustang. Saw a thresher working and tons of bluefins around the 20 line off long island on the ride up. Caught a 50 lb bluefin on a 20 lb spinning rod - great start to the trip!

Since then the weather has been pretty crappy and the next two days look awful.

Met Johnny Walker from Melton tonight at the reception - the Melton crew donated $5300 worth of tackle for the tournament!

Who else is here? Will there be any coverage like last year?

If you check in the New England forum, there are a couple of threads on it- SFC is well-represented at OBT this year! Hoping to hear back from those guys on how things are out there.

    Good luck Green Machine!

Thanks for the good wishes guys! Day 1 greeted us with an honest 8-10 ft sea state with bigger sets. One wave partially split our curtains with green water over the bow. If we had not come all this way for this tournament, there is no way we would have made it out today on our boat! We did, however, make it out and found a pretty nice spot about 17 miles to the south of gay head. Great structure and a good temperature break put us on bait right away.

The day total was 2 makos and 6 blue sharks. One mako was better then 150 lbs, the other was close to 100 lbs. Neither obviously would have qualified so they were released along with the blue dogs. One of the blue sharks was enormous - I am guessing well over 250 and close to 300 lbs. They grow them big up here! we certainly had a lot of action - maybe tomorrow will be our day.

I heard Damon Sacco on Castafari almost broke the state record thresher and is in first place.

Stephen - I thought about asking you about this area and really wish that I had done so - it probably would have helped quite a bit! Probably too late now - heading out again at 4 am. Thanks though, I would definitely love to debrief with you as we would like to make this an annual trip. This is an awesome tournament!
