Cape May Tackle/Jigandpopadventures.com is very pleased to report that our Fourth Trip to Panama Sport Fishing Lodge in 12 months did not disappoint, we came down for a Super Cow?????? you be the judge....???
Casting for tuna was crazy, the Salas did not disappoint and the Bleeding Baby and Blue/White proved deadly.
Crashing bait, bait balls, logs – TUNA MAYHEM. The group caught fish until both boxes where busting with tuna and then we went into catch and release mode, with a total of 24 yellowfin and – keeping 16 for the village and eating back home
After a morning of throwing irons we decided to take a break and troll for awhile.
We were having a lunch break, but I had insisted that Dang and Dwight be suited up, plates on – adjusted as well as we could and 100% ready. The group thought this was bad luck, but I told them not to worry
Three bites into lunch the 50 Wide goes off, big tuna! Dang worked the fish, then Dwight, Harold and I and then we did the rotation again.
Great action and great team work, as passing a rod that many times on a big fish you better have some experience and some luck.
The fight seemed like it took forever, but in reality was only 58 minutes. Remember in the morning we caught over 30 tuna on poppers and irons!!!!
This tuna showed us all what Tuna Fishing with Capt. Macho at Panama Sportfishing Lodge is all about.
Capt. Macho says it is close to 300#, but what does he know? He has caught quite a few in his career, other captains on hearing the news were waiting and arriving in droves at the lodge. This might be the first Super COW caught of this season. It generated a little buzz here in the predominately fishing village of Boca Chica. People bringing their kids, the future generation of captains to see a truly spectacular animal.
Unfortunately the fish broke the scale and bent the beam !!!
The last 2 days of fishing was the highlight of the trip. Many would consider Thursday's Cow the highlight of the trip, but Fridays run back to the Bank was the Icing on the Big Cake!!! with three huge Tunas. mooinnnnnggggg !!!!! moooooooo!!!!!
The Cows are here boys and will usually hang around until October/November..... are you ready ?
John promised to have a #500 scale waiting for me – are you in, 10 day trip next April ?
