Mixed Bag Trolling & Bottom Fishing (Video included)
Good seas were predicted and the prediction came true! It was only 5-10 knot winds with 2-3 foot seas. A little cloudy, but no rain.
I started trolling at the Big 10 Fathom, but after a while all I had to show for it was a barracuda.
Fortunately, I had packed some extra squid in case the topwater action was slow. I figured it might be, since there was a full moon. I bottom fished around the Big 10. At first, all I caught were several sea bass and a shark.
I switched to a different bottom fishing spot that has worked well for me in the past. I was able to pick up snapper, grouper, and triggerfish. I also picked up a couple of sand bass and a couple more sharks.
Trolled a little bit after that with nothing else to show for it.

Today I trolled Black Bart lures for the first time. I don't think that this was a good day to start something new, as topwater action seemed to be slow. However, I was advised to troll them at 8-10 knots and not let them skip. I found that I had to troll much slower than that to prevent them from skipping. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I figured it was better to keep them submerged than troll them at the recommended speed.
