    MISSISSIPPI OFFSHORE FISH PICS

PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE DATES ON THE PICS, I PUT NEW BATTERIES IN MY CAMERA THE DAY BEFORE. I DONT KNOW WHY IT STARTED AT 1/01/2004 BUT IT DID. THESE PICS WERE INDEED TAKEN YESTERDAY.

WENT OUT YESTERDAY WITH OLD COLLEGE ROOMMATES FOR A LITTLE OFFSHORE FISHING ADVENTURE. HAD A BLAST CAUGHT A TON OF SNAPPER AND GROUPER THAT WERE JUST A HAIR TO SMALL,A COUPLE OF SMALL COBIA, AND SOME NICE KING MACS. WE ENDED UP WITH 8 KINGS AND ONE THAT WEIGHED IN AT 36LBS. FOR THERE FIRST TIME OFFSHORE THEY HAD A BLAST CATCHING A BUNCH OF KINGS AND GOT TO FEEL THE SPEED AND POWER OF SOME DECENT FISH. WE WERE ABOUT 35-45 MILES OUT WHEN WE CAUGHT ALL THE FISH AND ONCE THE KINGS STARTED BITING THE ACTION WAS PRETTY STEADY FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS.
BEAUTIFUL SUNRISE ON THE WAY OUT!!!!

    FIRST TWO RIGS IN SIGHT.

CODY AND RYE ON THERE FIRST DROP.

THE WATER WAS AWESOME, BLUE AND CLEAR.

NICE COBIA I HOOKED OFF A SHRIMP BOAT ON THE WAY OUT, HE CAME OFF ABOUT A SEC AFTER THIS PIC WAS TAKEN. BUMMER.

MY LITTLE BRO GOT A LITTLE SICK.

    Cool

    Hey Trey!
How far out are those rigs from where you launched?
    How deep was the water?

That water was a beautiful color.
Thanks for sharing those pics. It's the next best thing to being there..

our first set of rigs are about 20 to 25 miles out. once you get to them they are everywhere from there to as far as you can go. there are prob twenty or thirty rigs that are from a mile or two apart to ten miles apart. they are scattered al over our waters. the first set is in 60 feet of waterand the farther you go south it gets deeper. the ones about ten to fifteen miles south of that are in 100 to 150 feet of water. yes our water has gotten incredibly blue its awesome!!!

Can you explain to me your lure trolling set up? Tackle, rigs, speed?

when we troll we run four rigs in our spread. on the two outside we put mann +30 diving minnows at about 150 feet out. the two rigs in the middle are dusters. we use diff colors but blue and silver have worked best. sometimes we we tip our dusters with live or dead bait. and sometimes we use trolling weights to get the dusters down a little bit. lately the diving minnows have done the best, they make a bunch of noise and vibration. as far as speed we run 5 or 6 mph. we have caught four kings this month over forty pounds and all were caught on the diving minnows. we also catch dolphin and an occasional wahoo on the minnows. the reels i use are shimano tyrnos and tekota600&700, with shimano trevalla rods, these setups also double as jigging rods. the dusters are all rigged with wire leaders. the minnows have three feet of wire leader with a barrell swivel to connect to the main line and we tie the wire directly to the lure with a haywire twist or crimp.
