Mid Atlantic Tuna Tourny Rap up on Risky Business

    Wow!! where do I start?
Ok, the weather, I had the plan to fish thurs and friday, I had the crew for that, then the weather changed, I was going to fish friday and sat, had the crew for that, then the weather changed again, now we had to fish thursday..didnt have the crew for thursday uh oh they all made plans to work thursday as I told them we were fishing fri/sat. anyway at the last minute I called hook he said he had a ride with a guy from del, crap ok on to plan-c.
at the captains metting hook called me and said he and his son got bumped from the ride in del and and he and his son were able to make it. now I have a crew, Danny, me hook and his son hook jr.
I have fished this tourniment three times now with hook and I trust him in the pit to the point I never have to worry or second guess him as to what he is doing back there which for me is key so I can do my job up front.

We left canyon club at 4:30 and made our way out to the grounds in great weather and deployed the spread at 7:30 at 8:36 we had what was to be th e second heaviest tuna of the day weighing in at 112 lbs. Danny was on the rod and fought that fish to the boat in pro like fashon and had it boat side in short order...that was all she wrote. I worked the area where we got the one tuna but didnt get any moore bites. so I went north a little bit.
Now this is where I want to talk about day 1's crew.

Hook jr fishes in hawaii, hook sr fishes here with a bunch of the top captains in cape may and he also runs a 48 ocean, Danny is a rod monster and can crank like the best of them, for a 120lb kid he fights those fish well, like a monster! Everything went so smooth and so gracefull the crew was so fluid and perfect. It made me so happy and to me thats what you need for tourny like this. you cant have people you never fished with on the boat just because they are not good or bad its just that you dont know what they can or cant do. Hook jr is sick at rigging baits these ballys swam so good I almost jumped in myself and hit the flat lines Hook jr also has a set of eyes that were plucked right from a ospreys head and installed into his own head. He spotted a school of fish off in the distance that was huge once we got there the fish were rolling and finning. Instigater was there and was working the school and we pulled into it and both of us worked the school we got one bite it came tight then it came unbuttoned. That was the only bite, we saw instigater pull a fish out of it but only one. We worked the school a few more times but no more bites. then a boat comes right through it and the fish sounded.

We move off and just start trolling around again. Its starting to get late and we need another fish. I se a few rip lines and head over to them and work that for a bit then I hear hook jr say he see's them again. damn he's good we get back on the fish and there are fish in this school that are 50lbs and fish that are the size of volkswagons. I give hook jr the tower so he can stay with the school and we pull up next to the fish I THROW SOME BUTTER FISH TO THEM AND THE ARE EATING THE BUTTER FISH!! Oh its on now I throw a bait on and toss it out to them...like a jackass I throw it right over the rigger! thank god a fish didnt eat it. at that point I burned some time getting it back off the rigger so hook had to put the boat back over the fish. He does I throw and he sees the fish eat my butter so I crank but he spit it WTF we try again, I throw and now this time two fish at the same time head for the bait at blistering speed and run right into each other and peel off...so close.. well we stayed on them for a little wile longer then the bell rang and day one was over.
we had a fish to weigh so that was nice. we had a nice ride in and weighed our fish and that was it for day 1. At the end of day one we were on the board in 2nd place and I knew that wasnt going to last long as friday there were some of the best going out that didnt fish thursday.

Day 2 and the super crew. this will come a little later on today.
