Day 1 : 63 of 134 boats fished. The top white marlin weighed all came from the Ocean City,Md weigh in. Even in Cape May most of the boats I talked to fished south down by the Poorman's Canyon. 88lb is the leading white caught by Woodie Klein on the Billfisher The Cracker with angler Chris Schultz took second with an 82 lb white. 3rd place is a three way tie at 69 lbs with Little Man, Topless and Singularis. That weight is not likely to hold up as many white were caught and released on day 1. No blue marlin were boated. The boat Tarheel had 2 of the top 3 tuna at 71 and 61 lbs. All in has the second place tuna at 66 Lbs.4 dolphin were weighed with the largestFish Bytes 25 pounder. 2 wahoo were weighed with Shelly II having the largest at 49lbs.

Some of the boats with significant billfish releases on Day One include Shark Byte with 15 white marlin releases and Miss Annie with five. Toplesss, Dave Anderson’s Krazy Salts, Marty Judge’s Judge and Danny Burt’s Pumpin’ Hard 58 each released four white marlin while Mike Penza’s Oil Slick, Pat Healy’s Viking 70 and Bob Mormile’s Lizanne each released three white marlin. Susan McCart’s Reel Joy released two white marlin and a blue marlin.



Day 2:

79 boats fished today 55 out of Cape May and 24 out of Ocean City,Md.The first fish to hit the board was a 39lb dolphin on the Legasea in OCMD. Foolish Pleasure weighed in a 27lb dolphin in Cape May. American Lady weighs a 56lb dolphin in OC Finesse weighs a 35lb dolphin in OC.Finesse had a triple header of blue marlin and were able to go 2 for 3 and get 2 releases. So far 167 white marlin and 3 blue marlin have been released, with only 15 whites weighed in. the only change in the leaderboard ion day 2 was American Lady's 56 lb dolphin was an MA500 tournament record and movied into first place. Shark Byte has the overall point lead in the tournament.

Some of the boats with significant billfish releases on Day Two include Scott Steele’s Toplesss and Steve Hotz on Deal Breaker with six white marlin. Steve Castellini’s Uncle T, Andre Fanjul’s Alican and Susan McCart’s Reel Joy each let go four white marlin. Tar Heel, Billy Ingram’s Reel Passion and Ed Katzianer and Dave Shokley aboard their Liquidity each released three white marlin. Don Pyle’s Finesse released two blue marlin and Bill Haugland’s Light’s Out released a blue marlin and a white marlin.





Day 3 76 boats fished, rainy and stormy all day, 49 boats out of Cape May and 27 from Ocean City. Topless started off the night with an 80lb white marlin and 3 yellowfins of 66,64,and 63 lbs and 1 white marlin release.Topless moved into 3rd place white marlin and 3rd place tuna Billfisher brought in 2 tuna 64lb and 61lb tom tie for 3rd. 20 minutes later at 6:27 Krazy Salts backed to the scales in Cape May and shook up the board with 3rd place 72lb white marlin and a first and second place tuna of 83 and 76lb and 1 more of 64lbs. Meanwhiile Pumpin Hard 66 and Par Five reported 3 releases and Cracker reported 1 release. At 6:55 Canyon Lady weighed 2 tuna in Cape May of 78 and 76lbs to take second and tie for 3rd. Reel Toy weighed a 31lb dolphin and Page Four weighed a 68lb white marlin in Ocean City. 10 minutes later Finess in Ocean City took weighed an 84 lb tuna for first place and a 78lb tuna to tie for third. Back in Cape May Seaduce's white did not qualify and Outrage weighed a 60lb tuna.

At the end of the day Billfisher, Cracker and Topless held the top 3 white marlin spots at 88, 82 and 80lbs. Billfisher's fish is worth about 8000 a lb. Finesse has the first place tuna, Krazy Salts is second and Finesss is tied for third with Canyon lady with weights of 84, 83 and 78lbs. American Lady still hold the first place dolphin and blue marlin is totally open.

Topless leads the points category with 1220.5 points

Day 4:

59 boats fished, 9 in OCMD and 50 in Cape May. Foolish Please weighs a white marlin that did not qualify. Then Singularis weighs a 79lb tuna to move into second place. Oil Slick weighed a blue marlin but it didn't qualify. I saw the Judge with 11 releases and Viking 70 witth 7 and some other boats with 5.



Day 5: Sea Splendur starts it off in OCMD with a 76 lb white marlin. Lady luck reports that she has a blue on board.Lady Luck weighs a blue that did not qualify and then weighed an 88lb white caught by Steve Ramsey . the white was caught on a Mold Craft black Super Chugger, the same lute that caught the 1010 blue marlin in the WMO. The fish ties the board for largest white but will take second because it was caught second. Cracker drops to 3rd with 82lbs and Topless goes to 4th with 80lbs.Allican weighed a 70lb white in OCMD and Mehl Ticker, Flying Label and Tranquility all weighed white marlin at Cape May but none of those was overthe 80lbsneeded for prize money. Krazy salts in Cape May weighed 3 tuna 59,68, and 78lbs. reelChaos too over #1 tuna with a 105lb tuna in OCMD with j. With just an hour to go. Main Line, sea hag and Viking 70 all weighed tuna in Cape May but did not hit the board. Impulse pulled into Cape May with 17 minutes to go with a 177lb tuna to win the tuna division.

The final standings have Billfisher angler Woodie Klein winning $791,442.45 for the first 88lb white marlin, and Lady luck angler Steve Ramsey gets $298,514.59. there were no qualifing blue marlin. Impulse V from West Palm Beach will take home $169,812 for the 177llb tuna American Lady wins$10,000 for a 56lb dolphin and Shelly II gets $10,000 for a 49lb wahoo.

how big was their blue?

On the Lady Luck V, the blue one came in at 375#, just 25# short of the minimum.



On the third run, the fish dumped half a Penn 80 wide and expired. I had to crank it up from the deep, 2' at a time. Around 1-1/2 hours.

Our white one was caught on a Moldcraft Super Chugger - Black.
