Day 1 : 63 of 134 boats fished. The top white marlin weighed all came from the Ocean City,Md weigh in. Even in Cape May most of the boats I talked to fished south down by the Poorman's Canyon. 88lb is the leading white caught by Woodie Klein on the Billfisher The Cracker with angler Chris Schultz took second with an 82 lb white. 3rd place is a three way tie at 69 lbs with Little Man, Topless and Singularis. That weight is not likely to hold up as many white were caught and released on day 1. No blue marlin were boated. The boat Tarheel had 2 of the top 3 tuna at 71 and 61 lbs. All in has the second place tuna at 66 Lbs.4 dolphin were weighed with the largestFish Bytes 25 pounder. 2 wahoo were weighed with Shelly II having the largest at 49lbs.
Some of the boats with significant billfish releases on Day One include Shark Byte with 15 white marlin releases and Miss Annie with five. Toplesss, Dave Anderson’s Krazy Salts, Marty Judge’s Judge and Danny Burt’s Pumpin’ Hard 58 each released four white marlin while Mike Penza’s Oil Slick, Pat Healy’s Viking 70 and Bob Mormile’s Lizanne each released three white marlin. Susan McCart’s Reel Joy released two white marlin and a blue marlin.
Day 2:
79 boats fished today 55 out of Cape May and 24 out of Ocean City,Md.The first fish to hit the board was a 39lb dolphin on the Legasea in OCMD. Foolish Pleasure weighed in a 27lb dolphin in Cape May. American Lady weighs a 56lb dolphin in OC Finesse weighs a 35lb dolphin in OC.Finesse had a triple header of blue marlin and were able to go 2 for 3 and get 2 releases. So far 167 white marlin and 3 blue marlin have been released, with only 15 whites weighed in. the only change in the leaderboard ion day 2 was American Lady's dolphin moving into first place. American Lady's 56lb dolphin was an MA500 tournament record.Shark Byte has the overall point lead in the tournament.
Some of the boats with significant billfish releases on Day Two include Scott Steele’s Toplesss and Steve Hotz on Deal Breaker with six white marlin. Steve Castellini’s Uncle T, Andre Fanjul’s Alican and Susan McCart’s Reel Joy each let go four white marlin. Tar Heel, Billy Ingram’s Reel Passion and Ed Katzianer and Dave Shokley aboard their Liquidity each released three white marlin. Don Pyle’s Finesse released two blue marlin and Bill Haugland’s Light’s Out released a blue marlin and a white marlin.
