    Miami Charter Recommendation?

I'll be in Miami in late February and would like to book a day of meat fishing with a good captain. I'm partial to bait fishing and jigging, but also enjoy cathing 'em on the troll. Any recommendations?

Dive to south Miami, head towards Key Biscayne and Charter L&H www.landhsportfishing.com Capt. Neil Orange if he is still running the boat is a very good captain. These boats out of this marina are all decent guys. BTW, I think the bait fishing off Key Biscayne is easier, so you don't spend a lot of time catching bait and more time catching sails etc. its a 15-20 minute drive from downdown miami beach to the marina, which is on the right side of the road heading towards Key Biscayne. Good luck

Get in touch with Capt. Ray Rosher in Miami at Monty's Marina in Coconut Grove. Ray's an awesome guy to fish with and his boats are custom made to fish South Florida.

Charters range from $600 to $1500 for anything from Tarpon to 11 hour Swordfish combo trips.

    Canyon Runner Miami Charter Info

We will once again be sending our new 60' Ritchie Howell Canyon Runner south for the winter. We are booking multiple day excursions for folks looking to live on our 60' Custom Yacht and have the boat move to wherever they wish to fish. Additionally, for folks looking to still get in on the great sail fishing and sword fishing right out of Miami, we are offering up the 60' Ritchie Howell as your fishing vessel and your home for your entire stay - of course you can also just go ahead and book a straight up charter depending on your desires.
We would like you to come on down and avoid spending money on hotel rooms and instead be our guests on our new yacht. Our 60' Ritchie Howell has 3 staterooms and 2 full heads. Along with a huge saloon, gallon and dinette area there is plenty of room for your crew to live in luxury for as long as you wish. The cost of these trips are $2,000 a day plus fuel for trips booked for Friday-Sunday and only $1,500 plus fuel for trips booked for Monday-Thursday. We will also assist in providing all your food and drink catering needs!!! These trips were a huge hit last year and we are already 50% booked up for February and March.
For that price you get the boat from as soon as you land until you head home. We will take her where ever you wish - Bahamas (Blue Marlin/Wahoo/Sailfish/Bottom Fish), Key West (Sailfish/Bottom Fish) or just stay right in South Beach Miami. Considering that hotel rooms cost $500+ per room this package will help you save considerably off the costs of fishing with us and give you the flexibility to go where ever you want us to take you.
In addition to a shot at the high flying Sailfish in the "Sailfish Capital of the World", a trip out of Miami at night will put you into one of the hottest Swordfish bites on earth. There are few things more enjoyable then drifting the Gulf Stream in 70-80 degree weather with Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and Palm Beach providing the background lighting, putting a few Swords in the boat, and being back at the dock in time for last call.
At only $1,495 per trip, you could do 3 Sailfish trips for less than the price of one overnighter and the same for a sword trip at $1,895. You can also book 18 hour sailfish and swordfish combo trips for $2695. Finally, and what was a huge hit last year, is living and fishing on the boat for $2,000 a day plus fuel for trips booked for Friday-Sunday and only $1,500 plus fuel for trips booked for Monday-Thursday (Please note we burn as little as 100 gallons per trip).
To book a date please give us a call at 732-272-4445 or email adam@canyonrunner.com.

if your chasing sails or swords you would be hard pressed to find a better captain that Dean Panos of Double D Charters in North Miami Beach. He is one of the best sword captains period whether its daytime of night. Dont know anyone who has a track record like his for plus 400 pound fish. Been fishing with him for years. Amazing captain and a great friend

He also offers trips focusing on stream fish such as tuna, mahi, kings plus reef species like grouper if swording or sailfishing isnt your thing

Head down to Miami Beach Marina and hookup with Captain Bouncer Smith. He's been doin it for almost 40 years now and is the best of the best for sure. If you go with him, your guaranteed to catch a bunch of fish and have a blast doing it. (305) 573-8224

Depends on what you define as "Late February" If it's during the boat show, Feb. 11-15, 2010, most of the Capts mentioned will be tied up with sponsors. If it's after the boat show, I would not hesitate to go with any of them, Bouncer, Neil Orange, Ray Rosher or Dean Panos are all good and can put you on fish. All of the Capts mentioned will live bait

FWIW, I currently live in New Port Richey, but lived in Miami for 27 years before I saw the light and moved out of Dade. I return to Miami once every year to charter Bouncer, but mainly fish for sailfish when i do so as I get my fill of bottom fishing off NPR in the Gulf the rest of the year. (when Crabtree lets us fish)
