MHC report SUN 3/25- Kickin azz, then azz kickin

Fished today on Finrazor with cdial (kurt) and his friend Ash. With little to go on except for sat shots and rumors of a north bite we headed to the hardest break I could find on the AM sats. That took us somewhat north to the 680 line in 40 fathoms. Lines in around 7:30AM in 70 degree water- short of where there was warmer stuff. Knowing it was gonna be a short day because we knew it would blow up early, all eyes were on the alert... we threw out 6 different colors, Rasta bar and purple/pink planer. 1/2 hour into the troll and at 73 degree h2o break, we had a couple of knock downs and boated our first YF's. Within another 1/2 hour we had a couple of tire kickers, including a HUGE wahoo that skied on one of our short riggers, nothing boxed. Another half hour and we came tight on a decent YF and boxed it. All fish and sniffers were caught within a 1/4 mi of the first bite. THEY WERE THERE... 680 line/45 fathoms. Man did it start to blow a wee bit earlier than expected and lines out after 2 hours. Had we been able to stay and hold ground, no tellin what the catch would have been... Lines out 10:15AMish... THEN the azz kickin commenced!! Yikes- tight knuckles- 4-5's in a stiff 25 outta the NW. Dockside 1:20..

Thanks Bill and others. The Rasta bar was very involved in the catch...

Good one Mike!! At least this time it was'nt 40 degrees and I got to drive a little, rig a little, pull a little and hi five a couple times.

Shoulda seen us... lines came tight and no one wanted to crank. We just looked at each other and did "paper/rock/siccors" for who was on the reel.

Yeah Shane, I hear ya- I found out what a 30' Mako could take today. Running 20 knots in that crap made my me glad I didn't buy a Buick...

Great report dude!

We took a whoopin on Saturday after a great day on Friday. Sunday morning there was hardly a breeze stirring at Hatteras..... then BAM! NE at 25 kts. I'm glad we were cleaning the boat when it hit. Thanks for the report!
