Fished yesterday with one of my good friends down from VA and his two sons, both first timers offshore. It showed - as soon as we pulled up five miles north of the 90' curve when the gentle motion of the ocean caused a stomach commotion... poor kids. HOWEVER, they we troopers and refused to let a little tummy problem deny them. They went to sleep for the next 2 hours..Real nice water, 78.7 degrees! wow.
Ten minutes into the troll we had our first double: barracudas
Ten minutes later, a single: barracuda
Ended up with seven cudas, yuk...
Wasn't until after an hour that we got our first wahoo, 30# or so. Then the seas and the radio go silent, with only a few isolated catches being aired as we trolled south along the curve. Decided after two hours of nada to troll for another half-hour then bottom fish. I guess the fish heard that and within that half hour we released a sail and boxed another 20# hoo. Went back to the big10/little10 and rounded out the day with some nice snapper, triggers and bsb. The kids had a great time getting their hands on some consistant pullage. Beautiful ride back.
The wahoo bite did turn on back in the deep, after 2PM as has been the case for a number of days. If you go, you might want to consider that...
VERY interesting catch made on the 560 line in 100 fathoms: a 50# yellowfin!! Somebody was lost...
