    MHC report 12/8

Today was the first day with any quantity of bites.

Seems like the fish were from the NW places to the big 10. As I am typing this Capt. Sean from The Restless LAdy just came into my boat, he caught an 84 incher that cored 249, ate a deep bait-bally with pink Joe SHute Lure.

The Canyon Runner caught a 94, I believe Fighting Lady Shane caught one and several others were hooked.

I had my bite around 9 o'clock. Pink flasher on a rigger. Had the leader on the rod a few times, and ended up breaking the main line about a foot above the swivel, in sight of the boat- oh well at least I had the bite.

Looks like we are laying for the next 2 days.

Glad to hear things are picking up. Hopefully the blow with lead to some hungry fish.

Sucks to hear you broke him off, but at least you got the bite and know first hand the fish are there.

Were you able to figure out why the mainline broke? Chafe on something?

Honestly I can only speculate. There were several break offs of the mainline today. Sometimes I think that at the time of the bite there may be more than one fish coming in on the bait and on the first run the line can rub up against the others? Who knows. Line is new and cut back daily, so it should be good right?

If I knew exactly why/how it happened I would feel better, but I figure when dealing with fish like this it is bound to happen time and again.

I seem to recall a story in BGFJ of a boat catching 2 BFTs on 1 line - I think it was earlier this year - one was tail wrapped and the other hooked - I think both were legal.

    Sounds similar to Energizer's fish

Hopefully it means the fish are hungry and competing for food - and I hope that leads to a good season...

Sometime's you get a bad spool especially if the line had been sitting in the tackle store a while If it were me I would change it out line is cheap compared to what a fish bring's just a thought good luck.
