    MHC Dockage Help

Hey guys. Looking for a little help finding a slip in MHC for the winter. Planned on staying at Town Creek but dropped the ball on confirming until today and they're full. MHCYB is full as well. We're planning on leaving next Thursday morning (Thanksgiving) and arriving in MHC on Friday afternoon. Probably looking to stay until around April. Boat is a 50' Viking with a 17' beam and needs 50 amp service. Any ideas or leads would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Olde Towne is great, but the current can be horrible at times. If you get a slip on the side with the new buildings, there is no problem. I wouldn't personally have one in the current. I have seen boats really struggle in it.

    Thanks for the help!!

Thanks for the replies guys. Now for a few more questions... I found availability at the following marinas:

    MHCYB
    Beaufort Town Dock
    Old Town Yacht Club

Having never been in town, I've got no idea on the amenities of any of the places. If you were us, and coming down to fish where would you choose? Looking for thoughts on access, bridges, fuel, floating/fixed docks, security, parking, proximity to town/bars/restaurants etc. I did hear that Old Town has some current issues and when I spoke to them they did say that the current is tough on the floating docks but there's none on the fixed docks. Not saying I've got a problem with the current but it's something to consider. Hopefully I'll confirm somewhere tomorrow and we'll be in town next weekend weather permitting. It would be great to meet some of you guys for drinks during the season.

    Thanks again,
    Mike

Mike .. we have been staying at MHCYB for the past few years and will be staying there this season as well. Acess to the inlet is quick and easy with deep water throughout and the marina is nice. You are within walking distance of downtown Morehead. Beaufort Town docks in a nice facility as well with restaurants right across the street.

Mike, Hands down MHCYB. Unless they have changed since this summer, Beaufort Town Docks are transient only, but nice facilities as well.

I'll third MHCYB - Been there about 3 years now - Well run, easy access to the inlet, walking distance to food, and hardware/marine store (ACE)

Beaufort Town docks aren't transient only. We stay there every winter for bluefin season for several months. I also know that they have long term tenants there. You are literally a few minutes walk from Ribeye's(hint hint), and all the other shops/restaurants right in front there. They also have a marina car that you can use to run errands with. They have a big shower facility, and a laundrymat is right across the street and around the corner. Not to mention you get the infamous wooden nickels when you buy fuel and pay dockage for free beers in the Dockhouse Bar right there as well.
