After drowning baits all day Saturday, we got some good word of some action down the beach so off we went, leaving about 4:45am. Glenn W and Bryan (BTH284) onboard. Dodged a couple jackasses in the inlet without running lights on, always a treat, and headed out on 30 min (I love MHC) run to the fishing grounds.
Lines in at 5:45 and we trolled around for a bit marking some good bait. A bit after sunrise, the planer bait goes off and Glenn's newly constructed 80# rod is bending hard.
After a short fight, Bryan gets the gloves on and found out how pissed a BFT can be when the leader is grabbed. After a few minutes playing tug-of-war, Glenn and Bryan had it at the transome. I jumped down to the pit and lip gaffed it to slide it onboard. 73". Took a few pictures, tagged it, and slid it back in to fight another day. Looking forward to getting that tag back one day, probably not very likely, though.
Called it early and back at the dock by noon.
Beautiful day on the water. Slick calm, warm.....I thought it was May. Had a great time fishing with a couple good friends, and a BFT thown in for good measure. Here is Glenn & Bryan with the fish.
