The fishing today was great, warm weather and big fish, cannot get much better than that eh.. Within the first 30 minutes just on the way out we landed a nice fat dorado (about 23lbs), that'll be on the bbq tonight. Then we finally got out as far as we wanted (about 17 miles) the swells were calm and rolling nicely to make the trolling go a little easier and bang the line was screamin' as we hooked a decent blue marlin. I dont particularly like them for eating but it's a good fun catch as most of us here know. We got it in the boat in about 25 minutes and towed it in, I was not sure myself but our guide said it must be about 65 kilo and 6 or 7 feet long, not huge, but a nice catch if I do say so myself, I do not know take a look for yourself and guess?. So we gave half of the marlin to our guide as a tip for the day and gave some more away to friends and through the rest in the frezer for another time... I love fishing in Melaque and am getting back out there as soon as possible, and hopefully get me an even bigger catch next time.
i dont really say much about anything but if you dont blue marlin for eating then why keep a little rat blue marlin like that. i dont think that blue will break 175. im sorry but theres no reason to kill a fish that size especially a blue one.
I bet that fish isn't even 125. I have released whites bigger then that. Only marlin I have taken was on a charter in Cabo and I didn't know they were keeping it. We brought it in the boat for pics and then the mate started hacking it up. I was pissed and then the capt said that is his tip.
I think it is poor business to kill billfish, let alone detrimental to the species.
