sorry for not explaining the big fish. We all knew after the hours 3+ on a fish something was going to give. A line part, swivel, rip the jaw from the fish, something.....Matey could feel the fish tail as he ran and peeled line, meaning we thought he was tail rapped. After a few cranks by a fresh angler the sad event happened and the line broke. The crew was fishing for the first time seeking large tuna and had a egg sinker pinned between two rubberbands and did not know the sinker could chafe the line. The line broke below the top rubberband. It was their first big fish. No disrespect to the anglers from anyone. They will learn just like we all do. The drags were full on a 50 and slipping and I suspect not calibrated with a scale to match the line or the washers were dead. The next time they will learn from simple over sites and grow in this sport as all do. The angler said he was a 5 foot fish and we guess in the 175+ range......flat

Flat, you are a hoot. that was too much. well we gave it a good ole try to help them out but unfortunately the line and tackle had played its toll over 4 hours. we are going to get them boys all set up w/ the drags they way they should be and send them back out again to conquer this time.

The Rest of the story, The line was less than full spool, the line was ?? years old, the drags that where never checked, strike setting 4 pounds the full setting 6 pounds (drags are shot) you would not have been able to gain line until the fish ran towards you.End result major drunk front moved in Saturday night for one angler the second angler damn near drowned in his soup bowl before crashing off to bed from exaustion. Remedy I am going to spend some time with said anglers and the captain of Cash Flow (my neighbor) and we are going to do some reel maintenence and reload them with fresh line and set drags. They got quite an education and where happy we came to there aid and in my opinion we did for them what they could not bring themselves to do, add enough drag to actually fight the fish at which time the tackle could not handle a 100 pound tuna let alone a 150+ pound tuna.
Final action to be taken, get them signed up on Sportfishermen.com where they can learn more & more.
As far as Matey well what can one say high energy and wild as a Wahoo.

Great video. Exciting and funny to watch. It's great to see/hear that SFC members are willing to help out anyone with anything. Cowboy, I'm sure your neighbor will appreciate all that you are going to do for him with the reels. Way to go guys!

Matey1 you are a one of a kind fishermen. None stop action you bring to the table every trip. I love it man. Showing the anglers in the vid the proper way to set their drags is with out doubt the best advice they need at this point. We all want that slob bluefin the size of a Volkswagen and you and Cowboy have put them on the right course to do so. The back flip is ranking #1 on this site. You hold the record and I doubt anyone will break it this season or next. Enjoy the topshelf. Them delaware boys is crazy........

Cowboy you rock man !! Hook them up real good and I hope the crew goes after another volkswagen.....

OK it has been a while since i posted and still working thru some things. But this video made my day. matey1 all I can say is You are The MAN. Going for a swim to help out another crew due to a 3 hr fish fight. To me that is sportsmanship. All i have to say is WTG matey1 for showing what SFC is all about. DID anybody else notice how the sunglasses never moved on the back flip. LOL
