Thumbs up Matador 7-3-09 Thresher report

Well after nothing great in any of the tournaments we managed a fun trip.....
Well with 3 crew and myself we made are way out the inlet towards a well know spot. finally arrived @ a hour later and it was lines in..... Well this trip there was no waiting game and in a little over a half hour a 50tld starts to scream of line. and that it did.........

Well with no sighn of the fish after the first hour, the conclusion was this was most likely a thresher shark. Another 45 minutes into the battle we were finally able to get the first view of the fish.... all +/- 16' with tail 8' of body.... Not to bad for a guy on the rod whos biggest fish to date was a 35lb striper... But christien did a great job!. Now the fun begun.... With 3 guys not nowing what to do? we had are hands full managing the fish boat side. But in the end all worked out...
water was 70deg. 130' green and clean..

was just under 400lbs on the scale at Hoffmans marina.

Fine looking thresher. Surprised the fish stayed deep. Looks like it was mouth hooked? Well done!

Het Joe, Excellent work man, nice Thresher for a first time guy, that is awesome, he stuck with it and finished the job, on a TLD to boot...
Good to see the Matador is still bringing in the larger size sharks!
    Take Care,
    JW

thanks everyone! definatly not a bad fish sor a first time sharker.... But he will have a hard time toping it.

the meat was actually very tasty! not tuff at all.

and the weigh in was a good time. at least I didnt have to climb the pole to weigh the fish

    thanks again
    Joe
