When I saw the Hatteras fleet smoking them, that was the first thing I looked up. When the Labrador wraps around the cape like that, fishing the break is always great.

Gaffman, there's a lot of info you might gather from a sat shot... The one posted here shows a rather long line of colder water against the warmer stuff. When you see something like this, you often start drooling: hard break and close in= decent shot at something fishy... unless, of course, you happen to cut your finger or have to remodel your trailer

Not to mention that the hard line is directly over the 120 foot mark out in front of the knuckle north of the Big Rock and if you look up north a bit you will see it directly over the 100 fathom line in front of the point. I bet the current is screaming with a hard break like that though.

From my experience the current is probably running the hardest where you see the most contrast in temperatures. You see how there is not much "eddying" going where the break is IE backflows, cool eddies, warm core eddies spinning off the warm water into the cool water. It is either one warm temp or one cooler temp. Look at O Sea D report from the Run Off this past friday. He said there was a significant break of 9 degrees and it looked like a white water river running. 3-5 one one side and 6-10 on the other side. I would bet if you could actually slow it down and look at it the most turbulent water was right where there was the most difference in temperatures. Also, if the wind is moving against the current it will kick up even more significantly. But turbulence equals nutrients stirring up equals food chain in motion. This put this over top of structure and you will have something.
This might be a good analogy.Think of it in terms of wind too. The hardest winds blow when the pressure gradients are closest together. IE wind speed blows from high pressure to low pressure. That is why Hurricanes have such strong winds. All that high pressure tropical air wrapped around that low pressure eye. Trust me I need to work at identifying where the fish are as well. I got a good hand on what to do when I get into them but finding them is the most important part.
