I release everything except in the WMO, when it's a contender for $$$ then it comes home.

A common belief amoung all the different people that make home in Oceana is that sharks are some form of deity, amoung most people the highest most powerfull god.

Before Christianity was forced on the different people here they had different gods for different things. Keeping ballance was amoung the most important of all things so as not to piss off a god.

When a fisherman got a mono filled fishing reel on an outter island he was having trouble with the local shark population taking his catch...he set sail for the island of his medicine man and paid homage with tobaco. The medicine man did his little dance and wrote in the sand then smoked his butt and told the island fisherman that he was catching too many fish and the shark god was mad at him.

the medicine man told the fisherman he could only keep a certain amount of fish from any certain area then he had to stop fishing because he had enough and further fishing would upset the shark gods and they might take a young child while it was bathing

The fisherman took home with him the wisdom of his elder and left enough fish in the sea to keep a healthy balance

Why is it a dumb witchdoctor with all the wrong beliefs has more knowledge on simple subjects than most educated folks amoung us

I have never caught one (to my knowledge, but probably have lost one) so my opinoin is moot.
But I would have to say your out there to fish, be ehtical, if he/she looks like it ain't gonna make it after all revival efforts while your Rec. fishing. Take it back (MHC area to Duke Marine labs). Be sure you got your HMS permit. If it gets to the boat and your revival efforts work take pride in that you released a bill and learned something.

Tournament kills, can't even go there never fished one. But if the $ is on the line STICK IT!! Head to the house!

That is the price you must pay in order to enjoy the freedom to fish in this country. remember if it wasnt for the military you wouldnt have a place to fish!! those type of exercises are set up over a year in advance before any tourney dates are set. If the tourney directors were smart they would consult the military prior to setting a date to help ensure this doesnt happen again. When there are non military boats in the operating area it really puts a dampner on what they can and cant do. If you were the poor bastard on watch trying to keep up with all the traffic on the water you would understand they dont want to be any where near the charter fleet. You should not bash the military instead fly a flag and salute the ships that you pass.

Swan caller. prior to your post I had the exact same views as Marty. But after reading your post and reflecting on the number of times the military actually screwed up my fishing I agree 100%. Bravo

If its a tourney and I have a shot at some real money, like the million in the MA500 or WMopen I would stick my grandmom if she was a qualifying WM or BM. If its big and I can get it in the boat someone better put that dart right in her. If its not a tournament I would release the rest so someone else could have a shot at experiencing the thrill and rush. I would eat Marlin for a month if I had to kill one.
