Marlin Magic 2 973lbs. HIBT
Just got a call from Marlin Parker, he and his crew of Tripp Davis and Carol Lynn just weighed a 973 pounder in the 08' HIBT....and they caught it on 50lb. tackle. Two hour fight,,,,70 year old angler. Every year in the HIBT he hooks monsters on 50 and this year he got one. My congrats to him,Tripp and Carol. More to come from Marlin. Aloha!

Congrats Marlin
I met and spoke with him for a while at the Miami boat show. Congrats to him and his crew on an outstanding catch on any tackle, much less 50 lb.

well deserved
While crewing on the Marlin Magic 1 last year in the HIBT, myself and Capt. Jason Holtz watched him have one the same size go mental on the wire boatside only to break 650 x-hard and swim away. 2 years before that he and crew Matt Losasso pulled the hook on leader on one estimated at 1100 on 50 as well.....so it's time he got a big f$&^*@ on 50lb. in the HIBT. I believe it's the 3rd largest weighed in all the HIBT's except for Dale Leverone's 1166 on 50 and Mcgrew Rice's 1046.

killing stuff cause it feels good
Congrats to Marlin and the crew- a very deserving captain.
I met Jason on the reef this past October, and he was telling the story about the fish from last year.
Marlin Magic boats get plenty of the big girls, thats for sure.

973 Pounder
Hi:
A local reporter told me the angler was age 60, the fish was 973 lbs. on 50 lb. test. They even had to enlist the help of the cameraman to pull the fish into the boat.
Supposed to be the 2nd largest Marlin in the 49 history of the HIBT.
There will be video available! Dean Sensui of the Hawaii based TV show "Hawaii Goes Fishing" luckily was on board and caught the whole thing on video from hook up to landing! They will edit and air a full story in a few weeks in Hawaii but it will be available on-line for free at www.OC16.tv...that's "O" as in Ocean.
They should have news about when it will air at:
www.hawaiigoesfishing.com
What a fish and fight....can't wait to see it!
Aloha,
