    Marlin Land

Marlin Land of Panama city left us today due the dedication he had to his boat the Traders Hill. He gave his heart and soul and finally his life to an owner who did not appreciate his hard work and patience. The world crashed down on Marlin July 4th when his decision as capt was ignored and then dog cussed. I hope Mister Lockhart never sleeps without knowing what he did to the fishing world. Marlin was a driven person and an incredible friend. Becoming a respected fisherman in our community was all he craved and he deserves all our saddened farewells. Rest in peace my friend ....

Me too... I assure you if I ever see Mr. Lockheart I will slap him. Marlin and I grew up fishing on the Panama City Pier and was one of my best friends. My thoughts and prayers are with him and Angela.
I'm in Provo... Please, someone tell me more of what happened.

The Marlin Land Memorial Fishing Tournament

Just thought I would pass along an email my uncle, (Marlin's brother) sent me yesterday:

    0D INTRODUCING THE MARLIN LAND
    MEMORIAL FISHING TOURNAMENT

As many of you may already know, Bay Point Marina recently lost one of their own. Marlin Land was a well respected boat captain, unparalleled fisherman, and steadfast friend to all who knew him.

However dear the loss was to us, however, it pales in comparison to the family he left behind. It is with them in mind that we would like to invite you to participate in what we hope will become an annual tradition: The Marlin Land Memorial Fishing Tournament.

The rules are simple: $1,000 cash entry fee per boat, a single day of fishing, and the heaviest fish brought to the docks wins it all. We'll reserve 10% of the entry fee for the family, and the rest goes to the winner.

Registration will be at the Bay Point Marina office Friday, August 14th from 6 - 9 pm. Weigh-in will be from 4 - 6 pm on Saturday, August 15th. You can see the rules below.

After weigh-in, we'll have a fish-fry around the pool. $10 per plate, all you can eat, and 100% of funds collected from the fish-fry will go to the family.

If you're unable to fish, but would like to make a donation in his honor, please call the Bay Point Marina office at 850-235-6911, or simply mail your donation to:

    Marlin Land Memorial
    c/o Bay Point Marina
    PO Box 28150
    Panama City, FL 32411

Please feel free to forward this email to anyone who may be interested. This tournament is not limited, and is open to any one who wishes to join us.

Our primary goal here is help ra ise money for a family in need, but I'm pretty sure Marlin would have wanted us to have some fun and catch a few fish while we're at it. We'll keep the rules simple, and the fun unpretentious. And if we get a chance to sit around afterward and marvel at the one that got away, he probably wouldn't mind that either.
