Honestly, I think that white is the first fish that reel has ever caught. All our other set ups are TLD 25's and we love them for the kind of light tackle fishing we do. That being said, the reel is super light and metal which I think is a huge plus. The downside is that the particular model we have doesn't have harness loops probably making that particular reel undesirable for tuna fishing. Also, unless backing with braid the line capacity is slim. I think Skippy thought he was going to be seeing spool in a hurry as we had it spooled with straight 30#.

What model Avet was it? The LX?

I know that feeling about seeing spool. I caught my first blue marlin last year on a Shimano Tiagra 80W and it almost spooled us on the first run. You can never understand that kind of power until you witness it first hand.

Getting back to the Avet question, I've had great luck with my TLD 20 over the years, but this time around I wanted to try a reel that was small and can fish 50 lb mono with some braid backing. The HX seems to fit the bill in that department, and like you pointed out, it does have harness loops for longer battles.

Honestly, I don't remember which reel it was. I'll try to remember to look this weekend and get back to you. Honestly, it's the first time it has seen the water and that's just because we needed a pitch bait. I think we ordered a couple more TLD's this week. They are perfect for the kind of fishing we do.
