Marking Battle Line for Depth
For my Planer Rod Set Up I have the bridle system and usually pull a #16 Old Salty.
After my Mono/Bridle I have @300yds of Battle Line and then 130 backing to fill the Shimano 80.
I want to "Mark" the Battle Line every 50 ft so that when I let this beast out I can have some idea of how deep I'm running it.
Any suggestions on how to mark the line... Someone told me to use colored sewing thread wrapped around the battle line. Not sure how to properly do this or if this is the best way.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ed

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
Make half hitches with the colored thread where you want to mark the line

I have always heard making half hitches as was stated and having a color coded system. One 1/4 series of blue tread is 50 yards, 2 1/4 inch series is 100 yards, one 1/4 series red is 150 yards... etc etc.
I know the sword guys who deep drop here just designate certain reels for certain depths and thus only mark each rod once. That gets em where they want to be with out having to mark out intervals.
