Kind of insignificant, but the lead bullets (slugs) might add weight to a toothy critter on the scale? Not kosher when its tourney time. Just a thought ....

Fish are rounded to nearest half pound. If anyone manages to put half a pound of lead into one of these critters, there is a whole other problem to be resolved.

I hear ya.I don't use guns myself (for sharkin)and not fishing the tourney, but some bozo could pump 8 slugs (1 oz each) into a shark, with poor shooting and shot placement, and that would be your 1/2 pound in thoery.... Flyers are the best way to go....

Flying Gaffs work just fine. But for you to make such a bold statement about flyers being the "best way to go", I would suggest backing that argument. I do know this, I havent had any sharks give any trouble at the boat with a well placed shot in the head. However I have seen flyers rip out and nearly hurt someone...

I prefer the poon or the shotgun. Flyers can work well but to me pose the greatest risk of injury or lost fish.
