Mako Mania/Mako Fever

We had Steve Magyari, Mike Reynolds, and Matt Malkiewicz out today to fish Mako Mania and Mako Fever. Trying to avoid the other 500 boats sharking, we headed east to the Witches Nose. Our drift produced 2 Blue Sharks (large models) and 1 Mako (legal but small). We opted to release the Mako. It was having a tough week because it's back was raked with deep gashes where a large Mako had tried to eat it. Imagine the size of the Mako that tries to eat a 75 pounder ! Wish we had found that one! During the day the boys also boated a large trigger and an unknown fish they couldn't identify. It's a shame that so few people recognize large whiting anymore. Hope they make a comeback in this area soon. It was a beautiful trip and a great group of guys to fish with. Even got to meet the World Famous Deep C !!!!Tight Lines !
