Wondering how far you would have to run in order to have a shot at a mako in the next two weeks off the jersey coast?
I know they use to be caught towards the end of may and each year seams like it is later and later. Is it possible to catc h a mako in mid to end of june

Depends how the wind blows and the water moves over the next week. right now its a long ways to get to any sort of water for boats from OCMD to Cape May. Its out pass 1000 fathoms right now. but i think you could get a shot next week.

So when the warmer water hits the canyon the makos should be there? Find the bait and the right temp and the makos should be there even this early? I thoughtg they followed the 20 fathom line up in the spring or is that not correct?

Peak for them is mid to late june. They get closer and closer to shore as season progresses. I don't start looking til a couple days into June...

we start fishing usually in mid june for makos just wondering how early it would be possible to catch one? I was under the impression the bigger makos come in first usually mid to late may and follow the 20 fathom line up. Just wondering if this is true.

I have caught as early as memorial day but way out deep. The earliest I see them at 20 line is usually june 5th or so... last year they really never came. Rats were even late by showing early July.
