Thanks for the answers Deep. One more if you don't mind- Chum. Some guys use frozen, the west coast guys do the barrell thing; additives- some guys put oatmeal, sugar, sand, I'm sure there are other secret ingredients. Any thoughts on these?

Like I said above. I'm big on going lite... I've done it both ways and I've settled on the less is more. I have caught plenty on those days where I slung 600 pounds of slop out there but I have done better on those days when I use a fraction of that.
My favorite chum is when they get way fresh bunkers right off the boat. Grind em, and blast freeze em... I run with my buckets up right. The thaw rate and spil over the top can be adjusted by how high you set your bucket using a rope and the cleat...
