    A Lure of Gold

I have been wanting to use gold to make a lure for years and finally it all came together recently, here are the results. It took several attempts to gain control over the leaf, the stuff is truly amazingly thin. So far these lures take about 4 times longer to make than the regular shell lures because of the delicate nature of the leaf. I took them outside in the direct sun and the flash off the gold is just as bright as looking at the sun itself!

I also wanted to incorporate a new eye design I had, it is based on a marlin's eye as near as I could make it. The shape and color came fairly close and I added the red ring to set off the blue.

    Beautiful

Those look incredible Alan. Beautiful work to say the least. I assume those heads are keel weighted so they constantly run true like the other lures in your lineup?

Keep up that innovative spirit. The results are speaking for themselves!

DRAGGIN FLY JUST RETURNED THE 3 LURES I LOANED THEM TO FISH THE LOS SUENOS TOURNY A WHILE BACK.....

TRITON, PHOEBE & JUPITER JUST LEFT THE BUILDING

AND THEY ALL THREE HAVE BEEN VIOLATED...ALL THREE HEADS ARE SCRATCHED UP.....THEY WERE BRAND NEW WHEN I SENT THEM SOUTH TO CR AND NOW LOOK AT THEM! AFTER ONLY TWO DAYS OF MARLIN FISHING THEY LOOK LIKE THIS...SHOULD I REPORT THE ABUSE TO OFFICIALS?

FOR A CREW TO ALLOW A FISH TO BEAT ON THESE HEADS WITH TOTAL DISREGARD FOR THEIR BEAUTY IS UNTHINKABLE....

thanks guys! Tom, it looks like I will miss the Miami show this year unfortunately, however I will be at the Atlantic City Powerboat show at the beginning of Feb at the Saltwater Soldiers booth. It would be great to meet as many local SFC members there as possible. It is tempting to run to Miami though, seeing as you may have some goodies!

Box's first photo is very interesting, that is one of my 'X' lures. I built it upside down with the weight in the top of the head so it would swim with the slant of the face 'down' so it dives. It appears to have taken the worst beating of the 3 so perhaps I should pursue this idea further and maybe offer it as an option?
