Hey congrats!
Can't help you out in Nassau, other than to say be careful...lot of cruise ships come and go and it's not known as a really great charter fleet. I'm sure there is a good guy or two. check over at Hurricane Hole. I can hook you up with a good local bonefish guide, if you want to do some inshore fishing. If you want to fly over to the Abacos for the day, we can get you set! Wahoo bite should be pretty good then. Tight Lines, Trey

went there for my Bachlor party, charter fishing industry is interesting to say the Least , avoid a guy named Brown. Most of the guys wnat to take toyou to hte reef for some awesome baraccuda fising, but there were a few boats that went to the bite, they were in a marina near Paradise Island. I think that Fishing days, yachtsync, is taking his boat down there somewhere, perhaps eluthera? Good luck, go gambling, drinking and heavy honeymooning.

Hi Tournament Cat,
Congrats on the wedding. Sounds like you have everything set in stone for Nassau. Abaco is awesome. We have a rental cottage on Great Guana Cay just across the Sea of Abaco from Trey. If you like laid back island time without heaps of folks around, check the area out sometime. Rick

Tournament Cat,
Just got back from a week in Nassau from my honeymoon. I have fished the Bahamas quite a bit while working on sportfish boats. Trey is dead on, be careful. Nassau is not well know for its sportfishing (charters or catching) seems to be in some what of a black hole fishing wise as far as the Bahamas goes. I booked the trip knowing this ahead of time and new fishing was not in the cards. Save your money, go snorkling, diving, etc. and enjoy the island for its other features. That aside we had a blast and the weather was perfect. While you there make sure you get dinner at the Poop Deck, hands down one of the best true Bahamian Restaurants on the island. Kevin

If your lookin for a good Wahoo Bite, hit the Abacos From November on. The weather will be hit or miss, but the action is second only to San Sal. You can expect anywhere from 5- 10 decent Wahoo bites on a good tide.
If you're gonna postpone for better weather/fishing, I'd suggest the Month of May, again in the Abacos, from the second week on. Avoid the full Moon however. This will give you the BEST shot at a Blue or White Marlin and all the giant Dolphin you will ever want to catch !! Regardless of the time frame you choose, there is but One Charter service to look at--Reel Candy Sportfishing. They have the most longevity in the Abacos for a foreign charter company and have an impeccable reputation. Check out their website and see for yourself. Simply World Class !! (941) 928-8888 and talk directly to Captain Marvin. Last edited by Feeding Frenzy Sportfishing; 10-15-2009 at 08:49 PM. |
