My sincere thanks to you all for the input
These must be a different strain of mojarra as I caught a couple of dozen this morning at 6:30am in my net and just fed the remaining ten to the dock cats alive at 8:00 pm. I am not worried about keeping them alive at all as we are constructing a very large west coast style reciever that will keep them indefinately I am sure. They are a hardy bait here, they just lose their slime due to the castnet and that is their immune system. They die due to a bacterial infection after 12 hrs or so(the red spots). I am surew I will get a ton of them in the purse seine nd they will be prime as they will not get touched by the net, we are doing a small scale tuna cowboy setup, like on the discovery channel. The guy who owned half of my long range boat in san diego had I belive the first operation of that kind in ensenada, mx. I just want to catch the little bastards in these fish traps I worked so hard on and they are growing me a third eye!!! They don't sell bait shrimp here for whatever reason, so i'm going to try squid and crushed crab. Like I said, these must be different, because my bait tanks are big, but not that much different from what you guys must have. Thank you all once again
p.s. Tom I will tell him tomorrow and I am sorry for the delay. We are buying a lodge and he is busy as hell with that, but that is no excuse. He will get back to you. I look forward to meeting you and your sons! Btw, they bit pretty good this afternoon!
Captain Michael, please keep us posted on your mojara endeavors and if you get a chance please post some close up pictures (with size reference) of the PR mojaras you are dealing with.
Thanks,
