I've been sniffing too much resin again and come up with a couple of new color schemes for the BahamaLures in the Sportfishermen.com ship's store, so far test results have been good!
Get Squiddy With it - the new Humboldt Squid pattern is an attempt to replicate a squid's colors as it changes from near white to reddish brown. The big bronze eye complements the style. When selecting the color pattern in the drop box look for "Humboldt Squid"
The Humboldt is an effort to 'match the hatch' and make a lure that actually looks like the real thing, on the other hand these next colors... well, not so much. The idea here is to go for a high contrast, bright lure against a dark background. Have you ever wondered why pink is so successful when there are no known pink baitfish? Or chartreuse is so good when that color does not ever even exist in nature?
The answer is Fluorescence. Think of it as Glow-in-the-day (day-glo) coloring. Ultra violet light in sunlight strikes the fluorescent object and reflects back light that fish and us can see, thus making it appear brighter. In sea water this is even more amplified as UV light penetrates water while IR light does not, thus leaving a UV enriched environment. This is why a fluorescent lure will appear bright and works even better on overcast days when the clouds have already soaked up most of the infra red.
The lures are 100% fluorescent, the heads, eyes and skirts!
Fluoro - Pink
Zuchhini
Also now available on all BahamaLures is a rigging option, all single stainless hooks and mono leaders (Except the wahoo bullets with cable)
