    Legend Lures - Krakatoa-YES!!!!

Just got a call from Cappy Say.

He went offshore yesterday out of Miami on Colton's hot rod looking for that boats first blue girl. They ran half way to Bimini in sporty seas pullin only a four rod spread with a late start.

Jay reports the Piper was jumped on by mahi and after several releases the long rigger pullin a Krakatoa(spelling) got hit..Jay reeled it tight a blue girl just pounced all over it.

They got a nice release and Colton's boat got it's first blue girl.

Cappy Say was at the airport and still talkin about 100 MPH

He said the lures he picked up from Roddy were awesome

    Congrats Cappy Say, and Colton

He said to thank Roddy for comin up with another great lure

    Hey Vin,

Good on Jay. He was fondling those babies for two days during our road-trip. That'll be good for him too, producing the goods for the Hoover family ! And on a Contender too (outboards are useless, aren't they )......

We sold so many of those damn things at the boat show it was unbelievable. And the Pipers too. Matter of fact, Brad Philips e-mailed me yesterday to say the Piper I gave him was was already red-hot for the sails over the last week - his mates went bananas over it too.

And unlike someone who said Olaf was catching all his fish in Ascension on Bart's lures, the truth is Olaf's also catching them on our's too. The Kraktaoa has now caught Olaf five fish with an average weight of 620lbs, acording to his calculations, and he's asked for four more. In fact, I have a sneaking suspicion that the KK might be outfishing all of Bart's lures on its little lonesome......

I guess you could say it's a lure that works ! And the best news, there will be a bunch of shops and stores withthem soon, including Meltons, Boyle's, LMR, Tommy Green and others. Outcast in Texas too.

    Here's Olaf's latest 500lber......

You got me Roddy and my biggest apologies to you and the Kraktaoa. I Just read a report elsewhere that stated "After a late start Heinrich caught a 650 pound blue marlin on the Krakatao" and another report that stated "At around 4pm a 500 pounder hit the Krakatao and was quickly caught by Kurt."

Please forgive me. And fill my order that I am about to make soon. I leave for Guatemala on Friday. Not fishing with Brad but if it works for him.........

    Thanks
    Bill

    Miami Marlin

Miami Marlin.... ya right... WTF over....

Was on a mission from GOD!

All i heard during the show ; Ain't NO MARLIN in Miami...

    The Pre-TRIP:

Road trip visit to the Hoover's flat on Thursday to check out the ride and gear was interesting; (Raise my Rent! Sweet for sure)
had a boat load of outfits to tickle my fancy, spinners, 20's , 50's (no-rods) 80's, electrics, kites, you name it...... But where are the 50 class RODS!!!! WTF over... after moving the fleet of motor cycles out of one side of the garage (BMW, Harley, Custom Chopper, and a tricked out scouter) .. We determined that they were no-where to be had... Colton made a few phone calls; sure enough we located them at a tackle shop, but couldn't get them until 9 am the next day.... OK no-worry's.... Still had to rig the 5 lures from the show, so we hit another shop (Crook and Crook). got some crimps, tape , hooks, chaf, we're good to go, spent the next hour or so back at the "college" flat rigging ..

Then Thursday night at the flat's party, (let me say that every night was a party at this place; Trust me on this one! )

Anyhoo, sometime during the nights activity's..was talking fishing trash with a stocky young MED student dude was beating his chest regarding his mating on a boat called OWL's NEST , a 72' think it was a Merrit.. again..

    AIN'T NO MARLIN in Miami..

After a few hours of sleep again, we got up at 8 o'clock, Colton/Ernie got the 50 rods back from the tackle shop, we had the reels already, Reid and myself went to load up on provisions (mostly beer, but food too) ..

By 10:30 we casted off, wind was out of the SE at 15-20, we cleared the inner coastal, then was welcomed by 6-8'ers with a few 10's at the reefs edge... No worry's, it'll mellow out once we get out... ya right! To the SSE, saw a few sporty's SAIL fishing, we stayed our chorse, to the east we go...

Way cool Heading-East for a change vs South on Cape Cod for bluegirls.

4 line spread in at 12:00 at the 100 fathom curve; some dolpins (flipper), birds, weeds. Looked like a good spot to start .. Within 15 minutes after cleaning the lures every few minutes a Mahi jumped on the short rigger PIPER sporting a white-head with a Gay Bob color.. Quick photo and release.. (release a mahi ???? yep , got to get the mojo / karma goin brother! ) Sea's at 3-5 now, worked the area a tad, then headed EAST. As Miami disappeared over the horizon, water deep blue, no weeds, clear sky's, things were looking good... a occasional tanker to dodge, but on worry's..... Then around 3:00 "40" miles offshore, smack dab in between Bahamas and the USA without passports ... it happened

Knockdown short rigger KRAKATOA, cat-like reflexes (ya right) ... reeled it back up and what looked to be another mahi hookup (sea's made it difficult to get a good look, couple that with the spread pushed a few waves back than normal ) Nothing.. another dropback/quick reelup, tension, splash, hookset ; Game on !!! .... 50 screamin, Cappy Say screamin , angler ( sick/hungover ) but game , SOLID hookup, this is no-silly-sail either brother !

Fish sounded , only had 10#'s at strike , went above strike once she settled down.. Getting line back, but the fish was deep ... WTF... planned her up with a few boat moves, getting a few yards back , line coming up, get ready ,, she's coming up to jump ... Notta, back down she goes... damn! 15 minutes later, up again, this time she showed her colors...., around 200#'s of liteup blue girl 100 yards off the stern.. ya baby , couple that with the sea's down to 1-3 during the battle, WTF who hit the wave switch anyhoo! SWEET...

End game time is near ! Everyone including myself was pumped... 5 minutes later; grabbed the leader , took it easy, really easy , got her boatside for the release.. , we chilled for a few minutes enjoying the moment.. The first blue girl for the ride/angler.. cracked that cherry bigtime ...

What a hoot, to go down to Miami, pick a spread of Legend lures out of my arse that i'd never got wet or seen, boat with outboards, no clue on the waters, no nothing except for goin fishin with some cool dudes .... I be one lucky MF'er !

Trolled the area until Sunset , another looker on the Merlin, but faded away, no more luv, back to da dock @30 knot's in no-time....

CatchemUp on Legend Lures! Krakatoa smokes like ROCK STARS!

    Spread:

#12 Black Andy (Merlin) Left Corner
    #12 Black Krakatoa Right Corner
    #12 White KK Left Rigger
    #12 White Piper Right Rigger

    KISS !

PS: Roddy.. I'm almost converted to WHITE HEADS brother ... lol

Yo Squidation, any color as long as it's sporting a Krakatoa... They like Pinks/whites/blue's

The Legends should arrive Monday via UPS at my door ... I'll be intouch!
