Well, it was certainly a nasty one out there today. We had some friends from Colorado in town and they had never been offshore before, I can think of some better conditions to bread in some greenies...but ohh well.
We set lines just on the east side of the chicken bone about 7:30. It was not too bad of a ride out, but steadily picked up throughout the day. We worked toward the hambone and picked up a peanut. The water was a dirty green so we headed toward the Dog looking for some better conditions. With the seas seadily building, it was getting down right snotty. We managed a bull and cow pair SE of the Dog. A few mahi put smiles on everyones face, but by noon everyone was done. Pulled lines and headed for the barn after about an hour LTH.
On the ride to the barn it was definitely white nuckle type of a ride. 4 miles from the beach visibility shrank to 50ft with driving rain and lightning that certainly had me puckered up. It was striking all around us. What a wonderful sight that inlet can be sometimes. Visibility pciked up after the R2, and to the dock we went.
Ended up with some meat for the grill, no one got sick (well, at least not chumming sick) and sent some friends home with a few good tales.
